Becoming a taxi driver

To be able to work as a taxi driver, the applicant must have a taxi driver's licence issued by the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works (MMTP).

Prerequisites

In order to prove the qualifications and reliability required to work as a taxi driver, the person concerned must:

  • have held a valid driving licence for at least two years;
  • have an adequate knowledge of at least one of the country's three administrative languages (French, German, Luxembourgish);
  • have a criminal record with no qualifying convictions;
  • have attended an information session organised by the MMTP.

This information session must be repeated every 10 years at the latest.

Information session

The information session for drivers is organised regularly by the MMTP.

These information sessions are compulsory for all new or future taxi drivers as well as for drivers who already have a card and whose validity is about to expire. Participation in this information session is free of charge.

  • Formation de base "Taxi - Accueil du Client" et gestion des confilts
  • Epreuve écrite non-éliminatoire sur la législation
