Vision Zero
This is one of the principles of VISION ZERO, which postulates that "infrastructure must be adapted to people and not the other way round". VISION ZERO is based on the National Charter for Road Safety, which was signed by all members of the Luxembourg government on 31 March 2015.
The Ministry of Mobility and Public Works (MMTP) carries out prevention and awareness campaigns on the road network and the cycle path network in order to rise awairness amongst road users to the following topics:
- hazards;
- speeding;
and irresponsible and dangerous behaviour:
- alcohol misuse while driving;
- use of the mobile phone while driving;
- non-compliance with distances;
- blocking lanes in traffic jams;
- blocking a junction;
- etc.
This policy of the national VISION ZERO strategy is being pursued in close cooperation and consultation with the MMTP's partners:
- National Roads Administration (PCH);
- Municipal administrations;
- Grand Ducal Police;
- La Sécurité Routière a.s.b.l.;
- ProVëlo a.s.b.l.;
- National Association of Road Traffic Victims (AVR).
