Nouvelle campagne de sensibilisation "Moto" Plan d'action "Moto" et nouvelle campagne de sensibilisation "D'Strooss ass keng Rennstreck"
On April 5, 2019, François Bausch, Minister of Mobility and Public Works, in collaboration with the ASBL Road Safety, the Administration of Bridges and Roads and the Lëtzebuerg Police, presented the new awareness campaign against road insecurity for motorcyclists "D'Strooss ass keng Rennstreck".
Indeed, even though road accidents have been on the rise in recent years, motorcyclists, especially those from neighboring countries, account for a high percentage of the total number of road fatalities. This is why a "motorcyclists" working group, made up of road safety stakeholders and several motorcyclist associations, has focused on the issue with a view to developing a "Motorcycle" action plan, which now includes 13 safety measures.
The main measure is to combat speeding. Indeed, during a roadworks radar check between June 22 and July 10, 2018, almost half of the 443 violations were committed by motorcyclists. This is why the police will conduct more systematic checks of speed, documentation, and vehicle condition, especially during sunny weekends in the north of the country.
Other important measures include securing dangerous areas with crash barriers, introducing a fourth "Fit for Your Bike" day at the start of the season at the Driver Training Center in Colmar-Berg, and finally, given the large number of foreign motorcyclists, strengthening our social media presence to build relationships with foreign motorcyclists.
The aim of the new campaign is to raise awareness among local motorcyclists about the risk of death in the event of excessive speed, but also to warn foreign motorcyclists that "our roads are beautiful, but dangerous" and that behavior unsuited to the circumstances can be fatal.
The campaign, which is displayed between April 8 and May 15, 2019, is conveyed by press advertisements, TV/cinema spots, 45 road billboards on the national network, 340 advertising billboards, "full back" displays on 20 buses on the RGTR network, displays on RGTR tram and bus screens, 50 tram shelter posters, on various websites and in social media.
