Several measures are in place in public transport to minimize the spread of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and infectious disease (COVID-19) caused by this coronavirus among the population.

The train serves most of Luxembourg territory, with a star network, the center of which is Luxembourg-City.

Links are also provided with neighboring countries (Belgium, France and Germany) through numerous cross-border lines.

Free mobility since 1st March 2020

Since 1st March 2020, public transport is free in Luxembourg for all modes of transport, whether these are trams, trains or buses throughout the national territory. This measure applies to residents, cross-border workers and tourists.

Since 1st March 2020, only 1st class fares on trains will be payable.

International tickets can be purchased at the counter in one of the train stations or online on CFL.lu.

 

 

Accessibility

The Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL), in cooperation with the various authorities, strive to make public transport accessible to everyone and especially to people with reduced mobility. The stations and stops of the Luxembourg rail network as well as the rolling stock, trains and buses are subject to major modifications and modernizations.

Persons requiring assistance are requested to announce their intention to travel by train at least:

  • 1 hour in advance for Luxembourg stations;
  • 48 hours in advance for assistance at a foreign station.
