Extensions to the tram network
Since 10 December 2017, the tram runs in Luxembourg City on the completed Line 1, between Findel/Luxembourg Airport and Stadion.
Extensions
1) Currently under construction, the first extension of Line 1 will run through Kirchberg, between Pont Rouge via "Kuebebierg" and Luxexpo: Line K2A:
2) A second extension, the bill for which was approved by the government in early January 2026, is planned along Route d'Arlon between Place de l'Étoile and the Luxembourg Hospital Center (CHL). This major 2.2 km project will include four additional stops and a tunnel between the CHL and the current Josy Barthel Stadium. Included in the 2035 National Mobility Plan, this project will alleviate traffic congestion in western Luxembourg City. It is scheduled to open in 2032.
Fast tram
Furthermore, the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works (MMTP) is working on the project for a fast tram (interurban tram) between Luxembourg City and Esch/Alzette by 2035.
