Free

Free mobility

Since 1 March 2020, public transport in Luxembourg is free of charge throughout the Grand Duchy, whether by bus, train (except 1st class) or tram.

This measure applies to residents, cross-border workers and tourists.

There is a price reduction for season tickets on cross-border lines.

Accessible for disabled persons

Persons with reduced mobility (PMR)

People with reduced mobility (PRM) can travel by tram without any problems.

Access from the platform is at ground level and movement inside the trains is facilitated by a standardised low-floor area. Ramps at the end of the stops allow easy access to the platforms from the pavements.

The tram can therefore be easily used by people with reduced mobility, older people and passengers with pushchairs or luggage.

All the precautions taken in terms of road design and equipment allow pedestrians to move around more easily and safely.

The rationalisation of car and bus traffic also contributes to this.

Particular attention is paid to pedestrian crossings, signage and the installation of street furniture.

Caution and traffic rules near tram tracks

Adopt the right reflexes!

The tram tracks are reserved for trams only!

Observe the traffic signs

  • when near and crossing the tram platform, traffic signs (signs and traffic lights) must be observed;
  • slow down and pay attention when crossing tram tracks;
  • it is strictly forbidden to stop at a crossing and block the tram;
  • any emergency braking endangers passengers in the tram by exposing them to the risk of falling.

If the signals are not working or the traffic lights are switched off, the priority rules laid down in the Highway Code (Code de la route) apply.
