Your rights as a traveler
Public Transport (PT)
Travelers have rights that they can assert through various procedures.
The Public Transport Administration (ATP) is the authority responsible for the interests of passengers on local public transport and intervenes in the following areas:
- rights and obligations of rail passengers;
- rights of passengers on RGTR buses and coaches.
For rail travel within the Greater Region, only the following articles apply, which may give rise to a complaint with the ATP:
- availability of tickets, through tickets, and reservations;
- liability for passengers and luggage;
- insurance;
- right to transport;
- provision of information to persons with disabilities and reduced mobility (PRM).
Free mobility
Since 1st March 2020, Luxembourg is the 1st country in the world where public transport is free for all modes of transport, whether these are trams, trains or buses throughout the national territory. This measure applies to residents, cross-border workers and tourists.
Air transport
The Public Transport Administration (ATP) is also involved in regulating the freedom of air carriers to set fares.
The Ministry of the Economy is the competent authority for air passenger rights.
